Fourth of July
June 30, 2006

4th_july Here we are , at the beginning of the Holiday weekend, looking forward to a beautiful summer mini-break. Most of us will have parties and family festivities planned.

Well, we can add to the fun with some quick and easy craft projects.

Let the Patriotic Mailbox at the end of the driveway greet your guests.

Add colour to your celebrations with delightful  Patriotic Jewelry. The clear instructions and easily available materials make this a simple project which even the kids can put together. And you will have a lovely set of mementoes your guests can take home.

Decorate your tables with specially designed pots filled with summer blooms, flags or pinwheels, and your chairs with colorful slipcovers.

And have in hand your very own  supply of sparkly but safe Firecrackers.

In just a few hours you can create some amazing memories.

And Then There Was Light
June 30, 2006

In the beginning there was Nothing.

Dark, empty, silent. Enervating.

And then there was Light.

Radiant, pulsating, dynamic energy. Washing the world, Seeping into every nook and every cranny. Living.

And Light brought Color. Black, white, red, yellow, blue, green, brown….

Daubs, strokes, washes, skeins, swatches. Spots, splatters, splotches. Of Color!

And Color created Art.

Welcome to  Happy Hobbyist!

Here we will explore the wonder that is Art, study its forms, expressions, and techniques.

And the passion that is Craft. Exciting, inspiring, soothing.

We will look at Art at its pinnacles of glory, Craft at its mundane familiarity.

And there will be a color, a stitch, a stroke for every one of us.
